Students learn in a variety of ways. They should be able to demonstrate readiness in a variety of ways. Our "Portrait of a Pirate" readiness indicators are developed from research by world-class organizations, more accurately reflect the educational landscape of the 21st century, and define students as more than a test score.
We have defined 3 pillars of readiness all students should strive to achieve
- 90 % Attendance
- 2.8 Grade Point Average
- Co-Curricular Involvement
Other career readiness indicators include:
- Dual credit career pathway courses
- Workplace learning experience
- Community service hours
- Industry credentials
College readiness includes having a 2.8 G.P.A. and one or more of the following indicators:
- Passing Algebra II
- Earning a C or better in an advanced placement course
- Scoring a 3 or better on an advanced placement exam
- Earning a C or better in a college English or Math course
or
Scoring at or above the minimum ACT benchmark in English(18), Reading(22), Science(23), and Math(22)
LIFE READY - Being LIFE READY means students have the grit and perseverance to tackle and achieve their goals by demonstrating personal actualization skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. LIFE READY students possess a growth mindset that empowers them to approach their future with confidence, to dream big, and to achieve big.
