Thanks to a generous donation by Mr. Richard J. Sarles, the Cochrane-Fountain City School District will be awarding five scholarships annually to students from the Cochrane-Fountain City School District area.
The purpose of this scholarship is to assist young people to receive an education beyond high school by attending a university college, or technical school as an undergraduate.
Candidate Selection:
- Students who graduate or have graduated from the school district or home-schooled students from the school district who have attained the equivalent educational status of a high school graduate from that school district.
- The candidate shall be a graduating senior or enrolled in post-high school graduation or choosing post-high school education after working full-time for one or more years.
Scholarship Renewal
The scholarship may renew if the student requests a continuation, demonstrates continued enrollment, and demonstrates successful completion of a previous semester grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Scholarship Distribution
The scholarship will be distributed with the successful completion of a previous semester grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients will need to submit a copy of their grades report to the C-FC District Office.
How to apply:
- Candidates must have a 2.0-grade point average on a 4.0 grading scale.
- Demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is a significant factor in enabling the student to attend post-high school education.
- Submit a written essay: “Why higher education is important to me and my goals.”
- Complete a personal interview with members of the selection committee. (Counselor, Principal, or Teacher)
- Submit two letters of recommendation.
Scholarship applications must be received no later than 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024.
