"Music is not what I do, it's who I am."

Welcome to a new year! My name is Sara Richert and I will be starting my 4th year of teaching and my second year at Cochrane-Fountain City!

I graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA in May 2014 with Instrumental and Vocal Music Education. During my four years at Luther, I was a member of Luther College Concert Band for 3 1/2 years and held the principal clarinet position for one year. I have gone on many tours with the band - one of my favorites was the Iceland and Norway tour! I was also a member of Collegiate Chorale (mixed junior/senior choir), Cantorei (upperclassmen women's choir), Wind & Percussion Ensemble, and Philharmonia Orchestra. I played in several student and faculty ensembles throughout my time at Luther and held recitals from time to time, on and off campus. I was and still a very active member of FMEA (Future Music Educators Association), IBA (Iowa Bandmasters' Association), and IMEA (Iowa Music Educators Association), and Iowa Alliance for the Arts. I am looking forward to become highly involved in areas of Wisconsin Music Education.

I taught in Iowa for two years teaching 7-12 band and was the Iowa All-State Instrumental Site Manager for the North Central Iowa district.

I am happily married to my husband Nick! During my free time, we love to watch Netflix, ride bike, take walks, try out new coffee shops, travel, and spending time with our two cats!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you this year! If you have any questions, please feel welcome to email me ( ) or call (608-687-4391 ext. 221).
